PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have just graduated from Sheffield Hallam University achieving a BA Honours Degree in Contemporary Fine art. My passion has always been for the Arts and this course has allowed me to develop and experiment in all areas.
I have always enjoyed the process of learning and have found comfort and inspiration in learning alongside others. As well as participating in and leading group work, I have found that I enjoy talking about other's work and helping them to achieve their aims.
I took work experience while at University working over two terms at University Chesterfield College with Art and Design national diploma students. I immensely enjoyed the experience, working with students one to one and as a group; I worked through the student's ideas and development, allowing them to be creative and productive. I prepared and took my own lesson showing the students how to use Adobe Photoshop on Mac based computers, this included importing their work, basic image adjustments, filters and resizing work for print.
Having already developed skills from previous employment as an apprentice at CC restorations where communication, teamwork, dealing with customers face to face, both private and within the trade quickly taught me good customer service skills and how to fulfill the needs of the customer.
At global video I was entrusted to open and close the shop, due to lack of staff I would often have to work on my own but this responsibility gave me good skills working as an individual, my duties included banking the days takings, again entrusted with the key to the safe, filing reports and orders for the day, using databases to check stock and process orders and the general management of shop floor.
To further my experience and gain more skills I volunteer for my local gallery Bloc, I also work for Adventure workshops were I give one-hour lesson in art and design in schools.
I am an enthusiastic, engaging and attentive person. I recognize the needs of others and offer them support and understanding. I am a good timekeeper and like to keep myself fit and healthy, I am well-mannered, socially adept, calm and have good organizational skills; I enjoy the process of working with others and see it as a mutually beneficial and rewarding experience. I am a fast learner and very hands on feeling I could give my best in any environment. My hobbies include cooking, socializing, keeping fit and being creative through all mediums.
