This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of Evolution Personnel Ltd who are operating as an Employment Agency.

Our Sheffield based client is looking to take on a permanent network engineer to help with the growth of the business. The position will be very customer facing so the ideal candidate will have excellent personal skill and needs to be well presented and articulate.

You need to be comfortable with all aspects of server, pc and network installation and maintenance. The majority of their customers are running sbs2003 servers or windows 2003 standard with exchange so will ideally be strong with exchange and comfortable with active directory and group policies. Any exposure to sql, sage, act, goldmine and voip products would be a bonus.

We are looking for someone who will be able to manage and co-ordinate new server installations, liaising directly with the customers, possibly moving to a “team leader” type of role. The role will be split between office and customer site, time in the will be spent on remote helpdesk work and preparation for pending site installations upgrades.
Key skills and requirements:-
General: server and network skills. Candidate will be expected to be able to install servers/networks with minimal assistance and be able to assist installations being carried out by other staff.
Windows 2000 server sbs and standard
Windows 2003 server sbs and standard
Exchange, all versions,
Symantec/veritas backup exec,
Terminal services, server installation and client configuration,
Adsl/Sdsl router/firewall configuration including vpn
There is excellent opportunity for the position to become more senior as the business and support team grows.
