Ralph Dartford is an independent producer, journalist and promoter with over 25 years experience in the entertainment industry. With a successful track record in programming comedy, music and theatre, Ralph has unrivalled experience in theatre and event production.
Ralph has strong awareness of current and future trends; his eclectic yet commercial style of programming has led to increased audiences and turnover at The Bloomsbury Theatre and The Millfield Theatre, London where he was General Manager 2002 – 2008
In 2008 Ralph set up his own production and promotions company.

August 2005 to April 2008
Programmer and General Manager for 360 seat venue in North London. Programming over 100 shows per year and an associated programme of education events and classes. Responsibilities included liaison with agents, promoters, performers, community and corporate users and the London Borough of Enfield; marketing and promotion of the venue and all its events; line management of operations, marketing, education and technical staff. Responsibility for budget creation and management; fundraising; partnership development and all contract negotiation. Producer of the in house seasonal show.
Highlights/Achievements –
‘Snow White 2006’ and ‘Peter Pan 2007’ – after a ten year absence, brought back the in-house pantomime to Millfield. Increased attendance at the theatre and broadened the theatres audience.
‘What’s Cookin’ Festival’ – a one day music festival, held in the grounds and theatre, brought an audience of over 3000 music fans to The Millfield for a celebration of Alt country and Americana. Attended by many non-theatre goers who were converted to attenders and increased general audience.
Theatre Programme – increased audiences for drama/theatre by 62% with shows including; ‘The Alchemist’ and ‘What I heard about Iraq’ James Seabright Productions, ‘Chekhov Shorts’ European Arts, ‘Invisible Mountains’ with the National Theatre, ‘Little India’ Trestle Theatre Company, ‘Two’ Jim Cartwright with Hull Truck, ‘Master Juba’ Snap Theatre Company and ‘Truman Capote’ Richard Jordan Productions.
Capital Development – as a direct result of three years successful programming and increased theatre audiences, London Borough of Enfield gave £2.5million to develop front of house facilities for the theatre visitors.

General Manager and Programmer for 560 seat venue in Central London. Responsibility for Administration and programming of the venue and line management of marketing, operations and education department.
Highlights and Achievements –
Re-inventing The Bloomsbury. Through an eclectic programme of comedy, music, theatre and live literature events, raised the profile of The Bloomsbury from University Theatre to Central London’s most progressive and sought after venue for music, comedy and theatre promoters.
Comedy: an eclectic programme of comedy including: Felix Dexter, Ricky Gervais, Dave Gorman, Boothby Graffoe, Jimmy Carr, Tommy Tiernan, Mark Steel, Mark Thomas, James Campbell, Stewart Lee, Best of the Fest, Gina Yashere and Omid DJalili
Music: Ray Davies, Ed Harcourt, The Waterboys, The Divine Comedy, Rickie Lee Jones, The Handsome Family, The Zombies, The Yardbirds and Antonio Forcione;
Theatre: Roald Dahl’s The Twits (with Richard Jordan Productions), Waiting for Godot, Double Act (Jacqueline Wilson) and Talawa Theatre Co’s Itsy Bitsy Spider. All for The Bloomsbury Theatre.
